This is a multidisciplinary research project of high scientific and technical quality aimed at developing the knowledge and management practices necessary for sustainable agricultural production using reclaimed water as a water resource, providing innovative technologies and solutions and recommendations for best practices that allow this type of water to be used efficiently and safely in agriculture.
The presence of emerging contaminants in water resources is beginning to be of great concern at European level, so the integration of advanced purification technologies for the elimination of these contaminants will be crucial to obtain safe and quality reclaimed water efficiently, increasing the confidence of both farmers and end consumers of irrigated products, and enabling proper water management.
The aim of the project is to develop management practices and protocols for irrigation management necessary for sustainable agricultural production. These will optimise the management of reclaimed water, thus limiting any negative effects on agricultural production, and will provide innovative solutions, which in turn will create new business opportunities in a sector where water is the key to economic development.
Ris3mur REUSAGUA belongs to the Research and Innovation Strategy for the Smart Specialisation of the Region of Murcia and is funded by the Regional Ministry of Enterprise, Industry and Spokesperson (Government of the Region of Murcia), within the framework of the European Regional Development Fund 2014-2020.
