1. LaserWay kick off

Last January marked the kickoff meeting for our project European collaborative project LaserWay.

Recent events such as the COVID pandemic and the Ukraine war have increased global uncertainty and prompted European companies to rethink their global supply chain and production methods. Given the unpredictable nature of potential shocks, it is crucial for European industry to maintain a high degree of flexibility and adaptability to swiftly respond to sudden changes, whenever they may occur.

By developing innovative and sustainable extremely high-speed laser processes – Laser blanking, laser micro-drilling, and laser material deposition (EHLA) -, LaserWay will revolutionize the manufacturing industry by replacing outdated, inefficient, rigid, and environmentally harmful conventional methods by introducing highly flexible production lines based on high-speed laser technology.

2. Objectives

With a focus on boosting productivity and efficiency, the project aims to provide a more sustainable alternative that significantly reduces CO2 emissions and ultimately enables a cleaner and greener future for all. For that LaserWay will double laser process productivity while still providing highly precise distribution of photons at the right place and at the right time.

The project’s success will provide a competitive edge for industries, such as automotive, aerospace and environment, by reducing processing times, improving material usage, and enhancing end-product quality. The advancements made through the LaserWay project will drive innovation in high-speed laser processing, solidifying Europe’s position as a global leader in advanced manufacturing technologies.

3. Project details

Extremely High-Speed Laser Processes for Sustainable and flexible Manufacturing, LaserWay, with Grant No.: 101138739, is funding under Horizon Europe Framework Program. HORIZON-CL4-2023-TWIN-TRANSITION-01.

The LaserWay project will last from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2026.

The overall budget is €5.392.275,72.
