The project was carried out in one of the driest and hottest places in the world. This park, located in Saudi Arabia, aims to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors by integrating natural landscapes, recreational facilities, and cultural institutions.
Furthermore, it aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which promotes sustainability, environmental awareness, and community well-being. The park will feature expansive green spaces, lakes, walking trails, and bike paths, as well as other recreational and cultural facilities.
Location: Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia’s extreme weather conditions—with an arid climate and scarce water resources—posed significant challenges to maintaining vast green areas and ecosystems in a desert environment.
One of the biggest challenges was developing a large-scale park that would be sustainable in a region with high water evaporation due to high temperatures, particularly with regard to irrigation of the extensive green spaces.
The project was designed to ensure that the park’s vegetation remained well-watered without causing excessive consumption of water. At the same time, the irrigation system was designed to be energy-efficient in its use of energy, ensuring long-term sustainability.
To address these challenges, a system was implemented to Sub-surface Drip Irrigation (SDI), a technology that offers a highly efficient and sustainable solution. This system enables more intelligent use of water and energy, significantly reducing water and energy consumption compared to traditional irrigation methods.
SUB-SURFACE DRIP IRRIGATION not only provides precise irrigation directly to the roots of plants but also minimizes losses due to evaporation and runoff, resulting in savings of up to 30% in water resources.
The installed system not only promotes more efficient water use, but also optimizes the use of fertilizers, energy, and labor, making the operation sustainable.
In addition, advanced technologies such as the reuse of treated wastewater and planting drought-resistant native species to further reduce resource consumption.
Advanced, efficient, and safe filtration solutions were also adopted, such as self-cleaning disc filtration systems HELIX AUTOMATIC WEIR, with its patented system HELIX WEIR, which minimizes the frequency of self-cleaning activation, and AZUD DLP TECHNOLOGY, which ensures very low water and energy consumption thanks to its highly efficient self-cleaning capability at low operating pressure. All of this contributes to greater sustainability and efficiency in water and energy management.
The implemented solution includes smart irrigation systems that monitor soil moisture and weather data, ensuring that water is applied only when and where it is needed. This not only prevents water waste but also ensures precise delivery to the plants.
The solution to SUB-SURFACE DRIP IRRIGATION installed in the park, with the irrigation dripline AZUD PREMIER HCNL, offers a number of key benefits:
