Ozone Water, an Irish company specializing in water filtration and water treatment systems, has a collaborative relationship with Munster Joinery, having previously provided solutions in other areas of the plant.

Along with AZUD, a detailed analysis of the project was conducted to propose an automatic filtration system designed to reduce water consumption and ensure a level of filtration that meets the requirements of the cooling circuit, with the flexibility to adapt to future operational needs.

The Challenge

The plant in Munster Joinery, located in Cork (Ireland), manufactures PVC profiles for window frames. The existing filtration system was based on manual bag filters with a filtration rating of 5 microns.

These filters required replacement twice a day, causing 15–20-minute stoppages in the filtration process. These interruptions occasionally affected product quality, and in some cases even led to Material being discarded.

Currently, the plant operates in shifts of 8 to 12 hours, five days a week, with expectations that it will evolve into a production continues 24/7 in 2026, which poses an additional challenge for the cooling system, which must ensure maximum efficiency and operational continuity.

The Solution

After conducting tests, the equipment was selected AZUD HELIX AUTOMATIC FT 220D AA WS – 5 μm as the optimal solution.

This automatic ring filter features a system of compressed-air cleaning, with highly efficient cleaning cycles lasting only 8 seconds per unit, and consumption of just 10 liters of water per operation.

The system is completed by the controller FBC Logic, equipped with an advanced Controller Siemens, which enables real-time monitoring, alarm management, and system control via communication Modbus.

Remote access ensures continuous monitoring of production and a rapid response to any incident, thereby ensuring process stability.
