INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT OF THE REGENERATION AND EFFICIENT AND SAFE REUSE OF URBAN WASTEWATER IN AGRICULTURE
This project represents a multidisciplinary research work of high scientific-technical quality in which it is intended to develop knowledge and management practices necessary for a sustainable agricultural production using regenerated water as a water resource, providing innovative technologies and solutions and recommendations of good practices of use that allow the use of this type of water in agriculture in an efficient and safe way.
The presence of emerging pollutants in water resources is becoming of great concern at European level, so the integration of advanced purification technologies for the elimination of emerging pollutants will be crucial to obtain a regenerated water efficiently, with quality and safety , increasing the confidence of both farmers and final consumers of irrigated products, and enabling proper water management.
As part of the consortium of the project, the Center for Edaphology and Applied Biology of Segura (CEBAS), as its leader, as well as the Murcian Institute for Agricultural Research and Development and Food (IMIDA) and the Technological Center for Energy and the Environment. (CETENMA) Likewise, the Sanitation and Water Treatment Entity of the Region of Murcia (ESAMUR), Aguas de Murcia (EMUASA) and HIDROGEA are part of the investigation. The technical team is completed with the University of Murcia (UM) and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT).
The project belongs to the RIS3Mur STRATEGY, call for the Strategic Plan of the Murcia Region 2014-2020 (IRIS 2020).
