HIPOFRUT

DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF A SEMIHIDROPONIC SYSTEM FOR SUSTAINABLE CULTIVATION (RTC-2014-2141-2). 

The HIPOFRUT project proposes the development of a technology for the semi-hydroponic cultivation of fruit trees, with which it is possible to significantly reduce the hydraulic conductivity of the soil-root relationship and increase the efficiency in the absorption of water and nutrients by the roots , with the consequent optimization of irrigation water consumption. The implementation of this innovative system in the usual practice of intensive exploitations of woody crops (fruit type), will not only imply an important optimization in water consumption and less soil contamination by nutrients by reducing drainage, but will also increase the production due to the total control that will be had on the root medium.
