DEVELOPMENT OF SUBSURFACE DRIP IRRIGATION (SDI) SYSTEMS WITH CONTROLLED RELEASE CAPACITY OF INHIBITORY SUBSTANCES OF ROOT GROWTH (RTC-2015-3321-2).
The main objective of the project is to achieve the controlled release of anti-root active compounds by anchoring complexes that will act as reservoirs of said substance to micro-irrigation systems. In this way it is intended to prevent the penetration of roots in underground irrigation systems and therefore their sealing and thus increase not only the water efficiency with respect to the conventional system, but agricultural and energy sustainability, making its design compatible with the buried installation, its protection against roots and high resistance to sealing.
This project has been the object of assistance under the expenditure budget of the Ministry of Economic and Competitiveness (MINECO) and has been co-financed by the European Union. Within the call Challenges-Collaboration of the State Program of Research, Development and Innovation Oriented to the Challenges of Society, within the framework of the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2013-2016.
