In the fertile region of Chapanay, in the heart of San Martín, Mendoza, lies the estate of a visionary producer, dedicated to the agricultural diversification with a focus on pistachio and garlic crops. This innovative strategy allows for optimal use of the land by interplanting garlic between rows of growing pistachio trees, which not only maximizes land use but also generates a steady stream of income during the pistachio trees’ growth years, before they reach full productive capacity.
Location: Argentina
Farming: Pistachio and garlic

The challenge on this farm stemmed from the anti-the age and characteristics of existing wells, each of which has a flow rate of 200 m³/h.
The main difficulty lay in the high levels of sand in the extracted water, which poses a constant threat to the efficiency and service life of irrigation emitters. The producer was facing the problem of How to Prevent Drippers Clogging and Protect These Components vital components of the system, without compromising the capacity of the low-speed pumps already installed.
The solution not only needed to effectively perform particle filtration, but also to integrate seamlessly with a additional booster to maintain pressure adequate throughout the entire irrigation network.
After evaluating the options and considering the site-specific challenges, the decision was made to install an advanced filtration solution: the system HELIX AUTOMATIC WEIR 4DCL/5 with filters 130 microns for each well.
This state-of-the-art technology provides robust protection against impurities and organic matter in the water, ensuring that only clean, safe water reaches the emitters.
This system was specifically selected for its Compatibility with low-speed pumps and for its ability to operate synergistically with the booster, forming a cohesive and effective Irrigation system.

The results have been extraordinary and have exceeded expectations.
With the installation of the equipment HELIX AUTOMATIC WEIR, the producer has achieved a significant improvement in the quality of irrigation water, which has directly resulted in a longer service life for their irrigation system and a consistent, uninterrupted operation of the drippers.
This technological advance has led to a significant savings in water and energy, which are critical factors in the sustainability and profitability of modern agriculture. In addition, the automatic cleaning system It has proven to be an exceptional solution, operating efficiently by more than eight months without the need for maintenance manually, thereby reducing operating costs and freeing up human resources to be deployed in other necessary areas of farm management.
AZUD’s commitment to innovation and support has been a cornerstone of this project’s success, ensuring that the producer can continue their work without the setbacks previously experienced.
